Barcelona’s Carles Alena ‘excited’ by Champions League knockouts

Barcelona midfielder Carles Alena is excited for the possibility of being involved ‘for the most beautiful and difficult part’ in the Champions League.

The 20-year-old has been afforded increasing prominence for the Blaugrana, including being handed a first Champions League start against Tottenham on Wednesday.

“Tottenham are a great team who came here to win the game, both teams should be happy,” Alena told reporters, as cited by Marca.

“They are delighted because Inter have drawn but they had lots of fans here and they are a really strong side but we solved our issue too.

“Now we are all excited for the most beautiful and difficult part (of the Champions League).

“I’m very happy to be having all these tests, this is a really good week for me – the goal (against Villarreal), the Copa, my first-team number, I’m having a great time and learning a lot.

“Ousmane Dembele is spectacular and we all like him, he showed his quality with another great goal.

“He knows he has had failures but we cannot kill him, we forgive him for everything and he has apologised.”
