Ernesto Valverde on Ousmane Dembele: Barcelona rules are for everyone

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde is adamant ‘the rules are the same for everyone’ after further reports of Ousmane Dembele’s discipline.

Mundo Deportivo and RAC1 both reported on Sunday that the Frenchman was two hours late for training and was forced to train alone.

ESPN FC say security staff were sent to the 21-year-old’s house after he did not appear when scheduled with the rest of his teammates.

“Something happened [on Sunday], but we will try to resolve it internally,” Valverde said when asked about Dembele, as cited by the report.

“I don't have anything else to say, really. We will try to help the player because he has a lot of talent and we want to help him.

“He is a player that gives us a lot on the pitch, but we have behaviour-based rules which are the same for everyone.”

Urbano Ortega, a member of former Barca sporting director Robert Fernandez’s team when signing Dembele added on Cadena Cope: “The people that surround Dembele don't help.

“When we signed him, we already knew about his indiscipline problems.”
