Diego Costa could leave Atletico Madrid for Tianjin Quanjian – reports

Chinese Super League club Tianjin Quanjian are preparing a bid to sign Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa in the new year, say reports.

Diario AS cite reports in TuttoMercatoWeb and RMC Sports that the striker’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has told Los Rojiblancos his client may be on the move.

In October, El Mundo carried a suggestion that Costa could leave Atleti in the winter, citing the Spain international’s contractual situation in relation to strike partner Antoine Griezmann, who earns significantly more.

Costa’s salary is said stand at annual sum of €8.5m while Griezmann’s contract renewal this summer has elevated his yearly wage packet to €25m.

The former Chelsea striker recently ended a nine-month scoring drought in La Liga but is said to be disillusioned at his own situation and may seek a move away.

Costa will undergo surgery on a foot injury in Brazil this week and is set for a ten-week absence from first-team duties at the Wanda Metropolitano.
