Real Madrid cancel Marcos Llorente move to Alaves – report

Real Madrid are said to have pulled the plug on a January loan move to Alaves for midfielder Marcos Llorente, according to Diario AS.

The 23-year-old has played just 11 minutes in La Liga this season for Los Blancos but impressed after being handed a starting role in Tuesday’s 2-0 Champions League victory at Roma.

Llorente stepped in for the absent Casemiro in that clash and his performance appears to have halted his agreed loan move to Basque side Alaves in January.

The central midfielder spent the entirety of the 2016-17 campaign on loan at the Mendizorrotza and was a key figure in guiding them to a top-half finish and that year’s Copa del Rey final.

Earlier this week, Marca cited Llorente as saying: “My dream is to succeed right here, at Real Madrid.

“Of course when the January window starts I will talk to my representatives and to my family, then decide what is best for me.”
