Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde 'not worried' by Marc-Andre ter Stegen saves

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde says he was ‘not worried’ about Marc-Andre ter Stegen being kept busy by PSV on Wednesday.

“We wanted to finish top of our group and we did it, despite having some tough opponents,” he said after the 2-1 win, which ensured the Catalans progressed to the Champions League last 16 as group winners.

“We must remember that away from home, we’d suffered for the last two years. However, we’ve achieved two wins and a draw this time around.

“It seemed easy, but the games have been open like this one. They went for it, while we did less so.

“We suffered at the beginning because of their pressure and us losing the ball.  That encouraged them.

“The field was difficult to play on. We did things wrong, but gradually we got going and the goals came.

“De Jong hurt us towards the end. He’s a difficult player to defend against. I like the games where you do a lot and your opponents don’t create much.

“I’m not worried about my goalkeeper making saves. Vidal had a great game. We asked him to be close to Leo, so we were looking out for his forward runs.

“He had chances, but it was a tough and difficult match to play.”
