Monaco striker Radamel Falcao has admitted returning to play against Atletico Madrid ‘generates a lot of emotion’ in him.
The 32-year-old netted a remarkable 70 goals in 19 appearances for Atleti between 2011 and 2013 before joining the Ligue 1 club in 2013.
“Firstly, I would like to say that it is always good for me to come to Atletico’s stadium, even if this is a different one from where I played,” Falcao told reporters at his pre-match press conference.
“A lot of time has passed since I was last here – I have experienced many great moments here and those are memories that I will cherish forever.
“Also, when I see the fans, the people that also work at the club…it generates a lot of emotion in me, and of course this is also a really important match for my Monaco team.
“We want to build upon our victory over the weekend and secure another important result for the club. I believe that we can enjoy a positive result here that will really boost our confidence.”
