Juventus full-back Joao Cancelo has described Valencia as a ‘great team’ and admits it will be special for him to face his former club on Tuesday.
The Portugal international has become a key part of the Bianconeri side since his summer move from the Mestalla, having spent the second half of last season on loan at Inter.
“I think that was a bit of a particular match,” Cancelo told reporters ahead of the match.
“We had a lot of chances, we played better than them and we deserved to win. Sometimes football isn’t fair though and we lost, even though we deserved to win.
“Valencia are a great team and playing matches like this is always special, particularly for me as I was there for three years.
“Tomorrow I need to put that to one side though because I represent Juventus now and we need three points to advance to the next round. That’s what we’ll try to do.
“When I can I always watch their games, but maybe not all of them because sometimes I’m playing so I can’t.
“As I said though I think Valencia are a team with excellent players, but also one with good organisation.
“They’ve managed to take points in the last few games, but we also need points to go through.
“Who would I take to Juventus? I don’t know, there are a lot of good ones so I don’t know who to choose. We have a lot of quality players too.”
