Jordi Alba: No talks over Barcelona renewal ‘strange’

Jordi Alba admits he finds it ‘strange’ that Barcelona have still not offered him a new contract but insists Real Madrid rival Sergio Ramos is innocent.

Alba’s contract is about to enter its final 18 months, despite the Spaniard being Barca’s first-choice left-back, while Football Leaks has accused Ramos of breaching anti-doping protocol twice.

“There are few professionals like him,” he told reporters.

“He’s given his life for Madrid and the national team. I think he’s acted correctly and that what’s been said about him isn’t true.

“It’s not my place to comment, but I don’t like nonsense being spouted. I have no news [on my renewal, but I’m calm because I’m doing things well.

“I don’t know what the club are thinking. It’s strange because I don’t have much of by contract left, but I plan to end my career here.”
