Chicago Fire want Porto’s Iker Casillas

MLS side Chicago Fire are monitoring the possibility of signing FC Porto goalkeeper Iker Casillas next summer, according to Diario AS.

Now aged 37, the former Real Madrid stopper has re-established himself as number one at the Portuguese giants this season, starting 15 games to date.

It is the Spaniard’s fourth season in northern Portugal and has been first-choice for all that time barring a period last season, when Jose Sa – now on loan at Olympiakos – was preferred.

That was reportedly due to Casillas falling out with boss Sergio Conceicao but any personal disagreement appears to have now been forgotten about.

However, despite the former Spain international signing a one-year contract extension until June 2019 he may leave the Estadio do Dragao at that point to move to North America.
