Chelsea ace Eden Hazard believes La Liga stars Lionel Messi and Luka Modric do not deserve the Ballon d’Or. “I choose Kylian Mbappe.”
Hazard, together with Messi and Modric, are considered three of the world’s best performers over the past year, with the Real Madrid midfielder already winning The Best FIFA Men’s Player award.
However, the Belgium forward felt they were overshadowed by Paris Saint-Germain’s teen sensation Mbappe, who helped fire France to World Cup glory in Russia.
“Even though I had a good year, I have to keep my feet on the ground: I don’t deserve the Ballon d’Or,” he told RTBF.
“There have been players who have been better than me. I’d say Modric, but between August and October he wasn’t as good as he was before that.
“Taking that into account, I choose Kylian Mbappe.”
