Real Betis are opening negotiations to extend the contract of Coach Quique Setien beyond 2020, say reports in the Spanish press.
ABC de Sevilla claim the club have had the intention of renewing the technician’s contract for some time and it is not ‘influenced by the euphoria’ following the side’s 4-3 victory at Barcelona on Sunday.
“We are very happy for the victory at Camp Nou and very calm in these weeks of break,” Betis vice-president José Miguel López Catalán told Radio Marca.
“We want to have a Coach for many years, we want that Coach to be Quique Setien – change does not work as has been demonstrated in recent years.
“He is an extraordinary Coach and we have afforded him a good team, but the important thing is we all want him here for many years.
“We all share the same views of Joaquin, we have to compete at the top – we have La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Europa League.”
