Athletic Club Bilbao defender Yuri Berchiche has been suspended for three matches after an altercation with a referee, it has been confirmed.
The full-back was sent-off in the aftermath of the Basque club’s late 3-2 defeat at Atletico Madrid on Saturday evening, complaining about decisions throughout the match.
Athletic have confirmed the former Paris Saint-Germain defender has been sanctioned for two games for that incident alongside an additional match for an accumulation of yellow cards.
Eduardo Berizzo’s side have just one victory from their 12 La Liga outings to date this season and sit above the relegation zone on goal difference only.
