Celta Vigo sack Coach Antonio Mohamed, appoint Miguel Cardoso

Celta Vigo have dismissed Coach Antonio Mohamed (pictured) and replaced him with Miguel Cardoso after just one win in their last 10 matches.

Mohamed was appointed on a two-year deal at Estadio Balaidos in May but lasted only 13 games at the Galician club, winning just three times.

However, Sunday evening’s 4-2 home defeat against an injury-ravaged Real Madrid proved to be the final straw for Celta’s board – with the club the league’s third highest scorers but who also possess the third worst defence.

Cardoso has been appointed just one month after leaving Nantes, whom he only joined over summer, while he guided Portuguese side Rio Ave to a fifth-placed finish last season.

The 46-year-old has previous coaching experiencing in Spain, the number two at Celta’s regional rivals Deportivo La Coruna in 2012-13.
