Celta Vigo boss Antonio Mohamed rues ‘wrong’ penalty call

Celta Vigo boss Antonio Mohamed has lamented officiating decisions in his side’s 4-2 defeat to Real Madrid on Sunday night.

Mohamed criticised the decision to award the European champions a penalty when the game remained at 2-1, and believed his side deserved a spot kick of their own.

“It was not a penalty, it was a wrong decision, I have seen the replays,” Mohamed told reporters, as cited by Marca.

“Junca challenges Odriozola but it is not a foul, we feel that we have been hard done by, especially because Lucas Vazquez had felled Emre Mor at the other end of the pitch which was ignored.

“I do not feel that we have played badly in this defeat but it is sad that we have conceded four goals, but that is because we were chasing the game at a late stage.

“Real Madrid deserved to win and they were very effective in front of goal, but we congratulate our own showing and will try to learn from it.”
