Real Madrid set to appoint Santiago Solari permanently

Real Madrid are set to appoint interim boss Santiago Solari as their Coach until the end of the season, according to Spanish reports.

The Argentine was appointed to temporarily replace the dismissed Julen Lopetegui at the European champions following the side’s 5-1 El Clasico defeat last month.

However, La Liga rules dictate that such an appointment is only valid for two weeks meaning that Madrid must confirm their decision over Solari within the next day.

The former midfielder has been Coach at the club’s Castilla’s side and he has won all four of his games at the helm of the first-team, scoring 15 goals in the process.

Diario AS cite a report in Spanish TV show El Chiringuito which states the announcement that Solari would be retained until the end of the season is imminent.

The interim boss was evasive when question on his future following Sunday’s 4-2 victory at Celta Vigo on Sunday evening but widespread reports suggested a victory then would seal his appointment.
