Real Betis boss Quique Setien plays down Barcelona rumours

Real Betis Coach Quique Setien has played down talk of a future managerial move to Barcelona following Sunday’s 4-3 victory at the Camp Nou.

The Andalusian side recorded a famous win in the seven-goal thriller – Barca’s first home league defeat in 26 months – fuelling reports of a future link up.

“Look, I am very happy with this result and the manner of it,” Setien told reporters after the match.

“When we execute performances like this it helps convince everyone of what we are doing and helping us continue to grow.

“If you are asking about the style of play then I cannot deny that Barca’s football is a style of play I have always admired and look up to.

“But the truth is Barca have a great Coach who is hugely successful, and I have no intention of leaving Betis anytime soon, I am very happy here.”

Setien also believes former Barca legend Johan Cruyff ‘would have been proud’ of how Betis won the game on Sunday.
