‘Real Madrid are very happy with Santiago Solari’

Real Madrid legend and PR chief Emilio Butragueno has confirmed that his club are ‘very happy’ with Santiago Solari’s work as caretaker Coach.

Solari ended his four-game interim reign with a 4-2 win at Celta Vigo, and the Argentine can only stay on if Madrid decide to appoint him permanently.

“We’re very happy with Solari, that’s the truth,” Butragueno said after the game.

“We’re happy with him. He came in at a very particular time and has been able to put together some very good results.

“It was a very complicated game, which we also started with setbacks in the form of injuries.

“We had to rebuild the team, but we still showed personality and character. Bale did done a good job, as did everyone else.

“The setbacks forced the team to be very compact. Benzema was spectacular in his two goals.

“The first was very difficult to take on after an exceptional pass from Modric, but he turned with his back to the ball, got it under control and finished it off.

“The second was the same for how he moved. He’s a key man for us. We have some very good players and the team are getting better and better.

“We faced a great team but showed a lot of character, We took our chances and we’re very happy. We must keep going like this.

“The team we ended with is a clear example of the competitive squad we have. The team have the ability and personality to win everything.”
