River Plate: Real Madrid talks for Exequiel Palacios ‘after Copa Libertadores’

River Plate’s President says his club will hold talks with Real Madrid over midfielder Exequiel Palacios after the Copa Libertadores Final.

Reports suggest Madrid have lined up a €20m deal for Palacio sand despite previously accusing Los Blancos of acting ‘dishonestly’ and ‘disrespectfully’, Rodrigo D’Onofrio accepts the starlet could sign for the capital giants.

“The clubs haven’t talked yet, but [Madrid’s head of PR] Emilio Butragueno will talk to [River sporting director] Enzo Francescoli about the player when all this is over (the Copa Libertadores Final],” D’Onofrio told Cadena SER.

“It’s likely that Exequiel Palacios will play in Europe next season, given the interest from various European clubs.

“Once the Libertadores is over, we’ll sit down and talk, although we want him to stay as long as possible.”
