Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos: ‘No intent’ to hurt Viktoria Plzen opponent

Sergio Ramos insists ‘there was no intent on my part’ to hurt opponent Milan Havel during Real Madrid’s 5-0 win at Viktoria Plzen.

Ramos charged across Havel in the first half, breaking the winger’s nose in the process, and some felt it was a deliberate act from the defender to injure his rival.

However, he said after Wednesday’s Champions League game: “There was no intent on my part.

“I went to talk to him after the match, but he wasn’t there so I sent him a message.

“I try to defend this badge in the best way possible. I’ve never gone out to hurt an opponent.

“I won’t be the one to answer those who criticise me. I’m lucky to be able to do my talking on the field.

“I haven’t mentioned Conte at all. His iron fist became a generalisation, but I haven’t talked about him. I just said a Coach has to earn respect.

“I’ve been the one in the spotlight since Ronaldo’s exit, but I’m fine with it.”
