‘Inter can beat Barcelona’ – Borja Valero

Inter midfielder Borja Valero believes his side can defeat Barcelona in their Champions League clash on Tuesday evening.

The Spaniard insists that if the Nerazzurri play with ‘the right confidence’ they can defeat the Catalan giants, whom he views as competition favourites.

“I think we have to believe in our strength,” Valero said in the pre-match press conference.

“Barca condition the game and it’s hard to play matches like this, we try to control the ball in the league but it’ll be different here. We need to be aware of that and play on it.

“I think we can beat them, if not we wouldn’t play the match. We need to have the right confidence and be aware that we can hurt them.

“Barcelona have this ball playing style in their DNA, it’s difficult to press them and they press very well.

“It’s not a coincidence that they always put Spanish clubs in difficulty, but by the same token we’ve seen that they’re beatable and we need to find the way to do it.

“Barcelona are favourites, we’re in the Champions League after many years of absence. But we know what we have to do and what we can achieve.

“We know their strength and that they’re never afraid, but we have confidence in ourselves and we’ve shown that. Let’s see what happens.”
