Barcelona ‘concerned by Malcom mental state’

Barcelona are concerned over the mental state of summer signing Malcom and are prepared to sell him in January, say El Mundo Deportivo.

The Brazilian forward was not included in the first-team squad for Saturday’s visit to Rayo Vallecano despite not being injured and Lionel Messi not being available for the Blaugrana.

The Catalan media outlet claims sources at the club insist there are fears the 21-year-old is ‘mentally depressed’ and his state of mind ensures he is not in a position to play.

Barca only signed Malcom this summer after they agreed a €41m deal with French club Bordeaux, signing the forward in controversial circumstances after Roma had previously announced a deal.

The forward has played just 25 La Liga minutes for Ernesto Valverde’s side across two substitute appearances while reports on Monday suggested he could be used as a makeweight in a move for Brazilian compatriot Willian.
