Luis Suarez: Barcelona were overconfident against Rayo Vallecano

Luis Suarez admits Barcelona players were ‘too confident’ ahead of Saturday night’s clash with Rayo Vallecano.

The Uruguayan netted twice as the Catalan giants turned the game around late on to edge out a 3-2 win over the side who are second-from-bottom.

However, Coach Ernesto Valverde hinted his squad may have been suffering from overconfidence and the former Liverpool striker agreed.

“It’s true, we probably were too confident,” Suarez told reporters, in light of Valverde’s comments.

“But we must credit Rayo Vallecano, they need points and were excellent, they brought the game to us and were very impressive.

“At the end of the day the most important thing from our perspective was to pick up the three points, then evaluate our performance.

“My own contribution? My job is to score goals and help the team, thankfully I did that.”
