Real Madrid have been hit with a double injury blow with news that both Marcelo and Mariano Diaz are set for a spell on the sidelines.
Brazilian full-back Marcelo has had a calf injury flare up once more – the same injury that saw him miss three matches earlier in the campaign.
The 30-year-old’s absence will be felt particularly so by Madrid as he has scored in each of his last three matches while the club have no senior back-up left-back aside from Sergio Reguilon.
Mariano Diaz is also set to miss a fortnight with a muscular injury, leaving the club light of options up front.
Madrid travel to Melilla on Wednesday night in the Copa del Rey while they also have league games looming against Real Valladolid and Celta Vigo, along with a Champions League tie against Viktoria Plzen.
