Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin admits the team needs to improve ‘individually and collectively’ after their 4-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund.
The defeat in Germany was the worst of the Diego Simeone era and whilst Godin moved to play down the individual result, he admitted Los Rojiblancos needed to up their game.
“We were in control of the game and then when they scored, it changed and they were very efficient,” Godin is cited as saying by Marca.
“We could not take our chances despite playing creating them and playing well, but we cannot say this is down to misfortune.
“When things are not going well we need to recognise that we need to improve both individually and collectively, because this is not enough.
“We are now in a place where first place in the group is a very tall objective, we must win the return match and depend on other results.”
