Antonio Conte would cost Real Madrid €10.8m

Real Madrid are still interested in appointing Antonio Conte but would be obliged to pay €10.8m to release him from his Chelsea contract.

Calciomercato.com say the Italian is highly valued by Madrid president Florentino Perez who believes he can instil work ethic and belief back into the European champions.

Conte is still being paid for the final year of his deal at Stamford Bridge and should he be appointed elsewhere the FA Cup winners would be entitled to compensation.

This ensures that Madrid would find it ‘simpler’ to appoint an interim Coach for the remainder of the campaign should they decide to sack Julen Lopetegui.

Castilla boss Santiago Solari and former Juvenil Coach Guti are two possible candidates in such a scenario, when Conte would then be free.

Earlier this week, Diario AS revealed Los Blancos phoned Conte for the second time immediately after their defeat to Levante on Saturday.
