Jordi Alba: Barcelona a different team without Lionel Messi

Jordi Alba admits Lionel Messi’s absence from Barcelona’s team for three weeks ‘will be significant’ but others must now step up.

The Argentine star is set to miss a minimum of three weeks with a broken arm with Barca first hosting Inter in a crucial Champions League group game.

“It is a crucial game for us as we both want to be group leaders,” Alba told reporters, as cited by Marca.

“We know how high a level they play at and we obviously have the added difficulty of not having our star player, which will have significance.

“He makes all of us better players and he is absolutely key for us and is a truly unique player in the world, but this is the challenge for us to find other solutions.

“We know we are a great team and we are a lot more than just one player, we now have the opportunity to show that against a top-level side.

“Everybody knows that we will not carry as much threat without Messi.”
