Andres Iniesta to be honoured by Albacete statue

Former Spain and Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta will have his career honoured by a statue in his native province of Albacete.

The 34-year-old already has a bronze statue in his honour in his hometown village of Fuentealbilla, erected five years ago, and now will be acknowledged by the wider province.

“Andres represents the values of the Albacete society: humility, simplicity and hard work,” Mayor Serrano confirmed.

Diario AS say a competition will now get underway for the design of the statue, which is likely to be placed in Albacete’s Abelardo Sanchez park.

The statue of the current Vissel Kobe midfielder is scheduled to be unveiled by 2020.
