Pablo Machin: Sevilla will not play for Barcelona draw

Sevilla boss Pablo Machin has promised ‘not to play for a draw’ as he takes his league leading team to Barcelona on Saturday evening.

The Andalusian side lead the table by one point but face their toughest test of the season with a visit to the Camp Nou against a Barca side without a win in four games.

“It promises to be a beautiful match, it will surely be the key match of the day,” Machin told reporters, as cited by El Desmarque.

“We arrive as leaders and we aim to be there at the final whistle; I never play for a tie and believe we can get a positive result no matter what stadium we are in.

“We are facing one of the best teams in the world, with the best players in the world, but there are always opportunities to score and to win.

“We aim to win every match, but we cannot think long-term about our opportunities, we must take it step by step.

“We only talk about winning options, we do not want to focus on who we are playing but ourselves, we are top of the table for a reason.”
