Barcelona to trump Milan to Lucas Paqueta?

Barcelona are interested in Flamengo midfielder Lucas Paqueta (pictured), despite suggestions Milan have already agreed a €35m deal.

A report in Diario AS says the Brazilian midfielder is one of five South American stars being monitored by the Blaugrana along with Palmeiras defender Vitao and Boca Juniors duo Agustin Almendra and Leonardo Baleri plus River Plate’s Gonzalo Montiel.

Paqueta is said by Globoesporte to be in line for a move to the Milanese giants but no such deal has been formally announced and has subsequently triggered Barca’s interest.

Over the summer the Catalan giants pipped Roma to sign Brazilian forward Malcom from Bordeaux in a €41m deal, despite the Italian club having announced an agreement.

Paqueta, 21, is one of two Brazilians who the report states are Barca have their eye on along with teenage Palmeiras – where the Blaugrana signed Yerry Mina from in January – defender Vitao.

Central defenders Balerdi (Boca) and Montiel (River Plate) are also attracting interest while Argentine Under-20 captain and midfielder Almendra is also on the watchlist.
