Antoine Griezmann: I want to make Atletico Madrid history

Antoine Griezmann says ‘it’d be a dream to write myself into Atletico Madrid’s history by winning the Ballon d’Or’.

It has been a 2018 to remember for Griezmann, who won the Europa League with Atleti last season, before helping France to World Cup glory over the summer, leading to his inclusion in the 30-man list of Ballon d’Or nominees.

“Finally it seems like football is starting to smile on me,” the attacker told Marca in excerpts of a wide-ranging interview, which will be published on Sunday.

“I’d love to have a museum with my shirts and trophies. It’d be a dream to write myself into Atleti’s history by winning the Ballon d’Or.”

Griezmann also had some words of praise for Real Madrid and Croatia rival Luka Modric, who won the FIFA equivalent.

“I applauded Modric for being crowned ‘The Best’ because he had an incredible year,” he concluded.
