Atletico Madrid defender Lucas Hernandez has revealed he rejected an offer to join Real Madrid: “It would be impossible for me.”
Lucas signed a new long-term deal at Atleti until 2024 but last summer his brother Theo moved from the club to Madrid in a €24m deal.
“My agent said to me about the offer,” Lucas told RMC Sport, in quotes cited by Spanish media.
“He told me there was an opportunity to join Real Madrid and I did not need to think to say that it was not a possibility, because I could not do that.
“Atletico are the club of my life, they have given me everything and for those reasons it would be impossible for me to join Madrid.
“I want to stay here for many years, who knows what will happen in the future if an offer comes on but that move would not have happened.”
