Koke insists he would take another Spain penalty

Koke is adamant he would volunteer to take another penalty for Spain despite missing a vital spot-kick in this summer’s World Cup.

The Atletico Madrid midfielder was thwarted from the penalty spot in La Roja’s elimination by host nation Russia but he insisted he will bounce back.

“Every scenario runs through your head, you cannot stop thinking about it,” Koke told an interview with Marca.

“But as a footballer this is what can happen and you must accept it, I must be able to deal with it and understand how I can bounce back.

“You must keep your head up and if the opportunity came up to take another penalty, I would volunteer, because you must be able to step up and show your character.

“I am very happy to return to the squad, it is always a feeling of great pride, and it took me a long time to accept my previous exclusion.

“It was a challenge to up my game and a reminder that you must always keep work.”
