14 La Liga stars on Ballon d'Or shortlist

14 of the 30-man shortlist for the men's Ballon d'Or trophy awarded by France Football magazine play in La Liga.

Real Madrid are represented more than any other club on the shortlist with eight players, while Barcelona and Atletico Madrid both have three players on the list.

Thibaut Courtois, Raphael Varane, Isco, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Luka Modric, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema are all on the list, while former Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is also shortlisted.

Saul Niguez, Diego Godin and Antoine Griezmann represent Atleti while five-time winner Lionel Messi is there for Barcelona alongside Luis Suarez and Ivan Rakitic.
