Spain’s all-time international appearance holder Iker Casillas remains hopeful on a return to Luis Enrique’s squad, according to reports.
The 37-year-old has not featured in a 23-man squad for La Roja since the 2016 European Championships, not featuring under Julen Lopetegui nor new Coach Luis Enrique.
Casillas, who has enjoyed strong form for the Portuguese champions in recent times, has won 167 caps for the Spanish national team but has fallen behind David De Gea, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Pau Lopez.
Diario AS cites Spain boss Enrique – a former international teammate of the goalkeeper – remains in contact with the veteran and has not ruled out a later return to the setup.
