Spanish players union: Players will not play in the US

The Spanish Footballers' Association (AFE) has confirmed La Liga players will refuse to participate in any matches played abroad.

The players union has consistently refused to rule out strike action and last month they formally rejected the league’s document outlining their plans, citing a lack of information and transparency.

President David Aganzo (pictured) and a selection of club captains formally initially opposed the plans and have remained steadfast in their opposition.

“We have now clarified this 200 million times, the players will not go,” Aganzo is cited by telling Spanish press agency AFE.

“At the AFE, we have been very clear and consistent on our position and that we will defend our members, and the team captains were unanimous in their decision.”
