Jose Mourinho laughs off Zinedine Zidane-Manchester United rumours

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has laughed off rumours that ex-Real Madrid Coach Zinedine Zidane could replace him.

The Sun reported Zidane had called Mourinho over the weekend to reassure him that he was not plotting to take over behind the Portuguese’s back.

That prompted a Spanish journalist to ask whether the report was true, but the ex-Blancos boss – speaking at a Press conference for Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Valencia – was sarcastic in his response.

“Ask the guy behind you because he was the one who wrote it. Instead of asking me…” he replied, pointing to Sun journalist Neil Custis.

Three games without a win have reportedly left Mourinho’s position insecure, but he insisted he was not feeling the pressure as he refused to comment on his relationship with chief executive Ed Woodward

“No, I don’t think [so],” he added.

“That’s a private matter. I’m not asking you who did you speak with yesterday or this morning, who was your last phone call, that’s a private matter. I’m not going to answer it.”
