Barcelona’s Luis Suarez out to end three-year Champions League drought

Luis Suarez will be out to end a three-year away drought in the Champions League when Barcelona face Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday.

Suarez goes to Wembley Stadium having not found the back of the net on the road in Europe since September 16, 2015, when he broke the deadlock during Barca’s 1-1 draw with Roma.

Since that evening in the Italian capital, the No 9 has gone 12 away games without scoring in the Champions League.

Suarez had netted 15 Champions League goals in just 19 appearances during his first two seasons at Camp Nou but managed just four in the same number of matches over the last two campaigns.

The 31-year-old has also faced calls to be dropped this season, starting the campaign with only three goals in nine appearances.

However, the Uruguayan may feel like ending his drought on Wednesday, given he has bagged four goals in just six previous meetings with Tottenham.
