Girona hotshot Cristhian Stuani ‘doesn’t trust VAR’

Girona’s man-of-the-moment Cristhian Stuani admits he does not trust the VAR. “They adhere to the rules in one game and not in another.”

Stuani scored his sixth goal of the season during Girona’s 1-1 draw with Huesca on Sunday, pulling off a Panenka from the spot.

However, the match was marred by referee Adrian Cordero wrongly awarding free kicks instead of penalties, which the VAR corrected for both of the sides’ goals.

“I don’t trust the VAR,” the former Middlesbrough striker said after the game.

“I was convinced that I was in the box, but then it was repeated for them. We were given a penalty that just two days ago wasn’t seen by the VAR.

“I have to see that play again, but what I’m saying is that they adhere to the rules in one game and not in another.”
