Chelsea star Eden Hazard admits Spain ‘dream’

Ex-Real Madrid target Eden Hazard has confessed that he wanted to leave Chelsea last summer ‘because my dream is to play in Spain’.

Hazard had been heavily linked with replacing Cristiano Ronaldo at Madrid, but while the Belgium forward again made no secret of his willingness to make the move, he also suggested he could retire at Chelsea.

“I will tell you the truth. After the World Cup I wanted to leave because my dream is to play in Spain,” he told BT Sport.

“Then I spoke to the board and the manager and I said ‘I can stay no problem’. The new manager has come in, we’re enjoying playing with him and I’m happy I stayed. I’ve got three years left on my contract.

“Retiring at Chelsea? Yes, for sure [I could stay here], but there’s also the possibility that I can leave.

“I love the club, the fans, the city and my teammates, I think, love me so it’s easy to stay. But if I leave or if I stay, I’ll be happy. This club is now part of my life so we’ll see.”
