Marco Asensio: Real Madrid need to be more ‘patient’

Marco Asensio believes Real Madrid must learn to be more ‘patient’ after their narrow victory over Espanyol on Saturday.

“The most important thing is the three points,” the match-winner said after the game.

“We did things very well in the first half, but in the second tiredness was more noticeable. We have another match on Wednesday.

“I told [referee] Mateu that I thought it was a goal because it came from a deflection and I came from behind.

“In the end justice was done. It’s good that the VAR worked properly. We did better in the first half, moving the ball better.

“Then, in the second half, we lacked patience and were too direct. Sometimes we needed to have more of the ball, but the most important thing is the three points and the 1-0 is as good as a 3-0.

“Odriozola has integrated into the squad well. His quality was already evident. Now we’ll go to Sevilla, where it’ll be complicated. They press very high, but we have to win.”
