Casemiro believes Cristiano Ronaldo deserves the individual awards for 2018 despite a ‘spectacular’ year for Real Madrid teammate Luka Modric.
Ronaldo left the European champions for Juventus this summer and looks set to go head-to-head with Modric for this year’s individual awards.
“Luka has had an incredible year, he has been spectacular,” Casemiro told reporters, as cited by Diario AS.
“But my opinion is that Cristiano Ronaldo was the best player throughout last season and he deserves to win the individual awards.
“We were good against Roma, nearly perfect. We have created a lot of goalscoring chances but there are of course little mistakes, but to have 30 attempts on goal is incredible.
“We have a very settled midfield and I am lucky to play alongside Luka, Toni and Isco – we have played alongside each other for a long time and we all feel very comfortable.”
