Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann should ‘focus on working hard on the pitch’ and do less talking, according to Pepe Mel.
The former Real Betis, Deportivo La Coruna and West Bromwich Albion boss was responding to Griezmann’s comments that he believed he was at the ‘top table’ of football alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
“He thinks he is at the top table of football, but I do not,” Mel told an interview with Radio Marca on Wednesday.
“If I was in his position as a player, I would try to just show this on the pitch and not do anymore talking, it could be a distraction.
“He should focus on working hard and nothing else.”
Earlier this week, Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos also responded to Griezmann’s comments by stating: “Ignorance makes you very bold.”
