Dani Carvajal: Real Madrid squad still a family

Dani Carvajal has explained how the Real Madrid dressing room is ‘still a family’ following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus.

The Spanish full-back was speaking on TV on Monday night after the Portuguese forward netted twice for Juventus in their weekend win over Sassuolo.

“Cristiano is no longer here but we are still the family we were,” Carvajal told Movistar Vamos, in quotes carried by Marca.

“That has been the case throughout these key years for the club, we are together and there is a fantastic team spirit.

“It was only a matter of time before he opened his account with Juventus and I have no doubt he will become a legend there as he was here.

“The situation with Vinicius Junior? “Lopetegui is the one making the decisions about Vinicius. He’s very good and also a very young player, so must be wrapped in cotton.

“He can be one of the greatest and I think Madrid are doing a good job with him, because he needs minutes and he’s playing consistently for Castilla.

“The Champions League? We won the second Champions League which seemed impossible and then the third, which also seemed impossible, followed, so we will leave everything again.

“The draw at Athletic Club? It was a complicated game, we came back from the national team and they had two weeks to prepare for the game.

“It's a valuable point, we are playing well and we still have a lot of room for improvement.”
