Thomas Tuchel wants PSG to have ‘Real Madrid’s conviction’

Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel wants to add Real Madrid’s ‘conviction’ in the Champions League to his side this season.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss recalled Madrid’s ability to win matches in the competition, even when not at their free-flowing best.

“Real Madrid always play in a way that they are convinced that they can win the Champions League,” Tuchel told L’Equipe, as cited by Diario AS.

“Real Madrid has a generation that knows how to win the big games, they know how to resist the pressure.

“Last season, Madrid were almost eliminated in the quarter-finals, almost in the semi-finals and in the end they won, that is something I want to add our team.

“Maybe we are missing Madrid's conviction, because they have experience in these games, and over and over again, they know that in the end they win those games.

“If in the first game against Real Madrid you deserve to win, you're close, but in the end you concede three goals and it is tough.

“I saw the second leg with my coaching staff, and you felt that PSG was not totally convinced of being able to win it, unlike many of the Real Madrid players.”
