Isco insists he accepts the competition at Real Madrid after his goalscoring cameo against Athletic Bilbao. “There are others who may be better than me.”
“The team isn’t just me,” said the midfielder after Saturday’s 1-1 draw at San Mames.
“There are other players who may be better than me and that’s why the Coach names his XI. All that stuff about Lopetegui choosing Isco and 10 others was what you [journalists] said.
“This is football, we didn’t play alone. We faced a great team. It wasn’t our best performance, but we didn’t play badly either.
“We had chances but lacked a bit of patience and precision. It’s not my thing to score headers, but I try.
“I scored one on my debut five years ago. Now we have to leave this game behind and think about Wednesday’s one against Roma, in another competition.
“It’s a long season and we’ll need to be prepared. Like the Coach says, the important thing is that everyone is prepared and ready to meet objectives.”
