La Liga Week 4: Pleasure and pain!

Rayo Vallecano made history against Huesca but there was more disappointment in store for Atletico Madrid and Valencia.

Rayo were without a Liga win away from home since September 2015, but they became the first team to ever win at Huesca in the top flight on Friday.

Giannelli Imbula’s long-range golazo – on his debut for Los Vallecanos – not only secured his side a 1-0 victory, but the Stoke City loanee also became the first player to ever score a Liga goal at El Alcoraz.

Meanwhile, Valencia’s search for a first League win in 2018-19 continued as they drew 0-0 with Real Betis on Saturday.

Los Che were dealt an early blow when Geoffrey Kondogbia was forced off with an ankle problem, and neither Michy Batshuayi nor Goncalo Guedes were able to make an impact off the bench, with the visitors running out arguably the better side.

Finally, teenage striker Borja Garces scored an injury-time equaliser to salvage Atleti a 1-1 draw with Eibar.

Los Colchoneros’ build-up to the match was marred by a late bout of appendicitis to Lucas Hernandez, and they appeared to be heading for a second straight defeat when Sergi Enrich netted with only three minutes remaining.

However, Eibar were denied a first-ever victory over Atleti as Garces came up trumps in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
