Ernesto Valverde ‘not too worried’ by Barcelona display

Ernesto Valverde said he was ‘not too worried’ by Barcelona’s comeback win at Real Sociedad but felt ‘we have to take more risks’.

“These are three very good points, everything was very tough and we had to put a lot of work in,” the Coach said after his side’s 2-1 victory in San Sebastian.

“There was a lot of build-up, with the reopening of the stadium and Agirretxe’s tribute. We took risks and conceded counterattacks, but it’s also true that we pressed and they had to put up with whatever we did. It went well.

“Ter Stegen made some very good saves and, like everyone else, did his job very well. These were three very complicated points to get and we know how difficult it is to win here, like you saw last season. It reminded me of Getafe last season.

“There were 15 minutes left and they were catching us on the break several times, so I put on Vidal to strengthen the midfield.

“You could see the Real fans pushing their team on. The stadium is very beautiful and if it was complicated playing here before, now it’s much more so.

“We had problems getting into their box and it was difficult for us to filter passes, but we kept going and after the break we corrected our failings.

“I saw that they were coming back and having clear chances to counter. We didn’t kill the game off and were losing control of the game by giving them the initiative.

“Still, I’m not leaving here tooy worried, just a little bit, although there are things to work on.

“Real broke well, but it must be remembered that they also have a good team. It’s not easy to win here and what we have to do is take more risks.

“I’m not going home worried, but we’ll try to correct the mistakes we made.”
