Pablo Blanco: ‘Sevilla Hall of Flame place means everything’

Sevilla club legend Pablo Blanco has explained how his introduction into the club’s Hall of Fame ‘means everything’ to him.

The central defender spent the entirety of his 12-year playing career at the club, making a record 415 first-team appearances in competitive games – a record only passes by Jesus Navas in 2017.

“This Hall of Fame induction means everything to me,” Blanco told Sevilla club media.

“I didn't expect to be at the club continuously for this amount of time. It makes me proud and emotional and I had a lump in my throat when they told me.

“When the president told me in his office, I felt incredibly honoured, speechless. I didn't know what to say or to do.

“I have been fortunate enough to be able to continue working with the club and watching its development since I retired, which I think have improved the level of Sevilla FC.

“With all the tough times that we have gone through over the years, we have reached where we are now and I have experienced it all first hand.”

Blanco has been in a variety of technical positions at Sevilla following his retirement and is currently responsible for the introduction of youth team players into the club’s Cantera.
