Line-ups: England-Spain

Marcos Alonso is handed his competitive Spain debut in Luis Enrique’s new-look team for their Nations League opener against England.

With no Jordi Alba in the Spain's squad, Alonso is given his first start at left-back, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather.

Elsewhere, the places of freshly-retired Gerard Pique, Andres Iniesta and David Silva are taken by Nacho Fernandez, Saul Niguez and Isco.

Gareth Southgate, meanwhile, makes three changes to the England XI who reached the World Cup semi-finals two months ago, bringing in Joe Gomez, Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford.

The sides last met at Wembley in November 2016, when Iago Aspas and Isco scored at the death to salvage La Roja a 2-2 draw.
