Villarreal have completed the signing of experienced midfielder and free agent Manuel Iturra, the club have confirmed.
The 34-year-old spent the second half of last season at Malaga, whom he had joined from Mexican club Necaxa, but was unable to prevent their relegation to the second tier.
Primarily a holding midfielder, Iturra – who has been capped 33 times by his native Chile – had previously played in La Liga for both Granada and Rayo Vallecano.
Iturra has also played for Universidad de Chile, Leiria and Udinese with the Villarreal website stating: “He has great ability to win the ball back before finding a team-mate. He knows how to interpret the game perfectly.”
